Venice Movie Making Tradition

Filming near Lick Pier in the 1920’s

Movies have been made in Venice from the time Abbot Kinney finished building its famous canals in 1905. The unique architecture, canals and (in the early days) amusement piers were a perfect place to film. Over the years, pioneering movie companies like Ince and Biograph gave way to more familiar names like MGM and Warner Brothers. These days all manner of movies are made here from feature length motion pictures and big budget TV series all the way to YouTube video blogs, not to mention all the tourist selfies.

Filming at Del Rey Colony

At Del Rey Colony (DRC), we want to do our part to carry on the Venice film making tradition.  We have a beautiful gated town home community overlooking a serene 1.3 acre freshwater lagoon. The property includes a beautiful pool, fully-equipped gym and 24 hour security. We are extremely well set up for film shoots here and want to offer this unique location to the film community.

We are focused on Film and Television. Our ideal partner is a major motion picture company shooting a movie or TV series.  Contact us with inquires about filming at Del Rey Colony.
